Red Snapper is Red Hot
With the exception of one day, the weather and conditions were ideal for opening week of Red Snapper season. Runs offshore of 40 - 65 miles have resulted in exciting trips and limits of red snapper, and a full mixed bag of dolphin, tuna, grouper, and scamp. Each trip has had quality fish as well of several large fish that found ways not to be landed. The red snapper season runs until June 14 for Federally Permitted Charter Boats like ours. Do yourself a favor and come fish for these hard fighting and delicious fish!
Had a 10- year old out all day on a red snapper trip who was a pleasure to fish with. This was his first trip way offshore and he was full of enthusium and fishing ambition. He rolled with the punches all day and I never saw or heard him complain to his father or even fall alseep .. .which is more than I can say about the adults!?
He was as polite, yet as tough, as they come and caught more fish then the adults. I regret that he and I were unable to land the biggest fish he hooked late in the day. Maybe next time!
Three anglers drove down from Gainesville who had purchased a 1/2 day trip I donated to the Childrens Advocacy Center annual charity auction fund raiser in Gainesville. We talked about my home town of Gainesville and the construction industry. The first fish of the day was the largest amberjack I have seen caught in 35' of water!
In March I had seen on seperate occasions big AJ's chasing 8-12# hooked kingfish to the boat, and I think we caught one of them. Ended the trip catching grouper, mangrove snapper and spanish mackeral, and bonita on light tackle.
Scamp have been biting offshore and we have caught some of the very nice ones this week, including this 30"er.
Tarpon fishing has also been excellent wih a great number of fish around.
Give me a call and lets plan your trip! I look foward to fishing with you.
